ในที่สุดก็ได้คำตอบเรื่องนี้ซักที ว่ามันต่างกันยังไง(ว่าแต่ก็รู้เลาๆอยู่แล้วนิ ช่วยยืนยันดีจริงๆ= =ll)
polyester vs polyurethane
i have been using smooth cast 325 and 320. i would like to know what the difference is between polyester and polyurethane resin. besides it being polyester being more toxic, will polyester pour the same into a silicone rubber mold; and if so what is the best type to use that will take a pecan shell filler or a metal cold cast. i have been told not to use polyester because it is hard to work with. but this was told to me by someone who sells only polyurethane resin. thank you. Hello Cody, this can be a very complex question because the answer will matter greatly depending on just what it is that you are doing with these resins. Polyester is definitely more smelly and noxious, but not necessarily more toxic. It's what you can't smell in the polyurethane that can get you, whereas with polyester you have very good warning properties. (get and read the MSDS for both to truly understand) If you are adding fillers to your resin, such as whiting, microballoons, or metal powders, polyester might be a consideration. If you are casting the resin unfilled, then the polyurethane will perform better for you. Polyurethanes tend to be less brittle than polyesters, but polyester will cost you less than polyurethane. Bottom line: I can't make specific recommendations without knowing the end use.
สรุป คือ
polyester ถูกกว่า ผสมอย่างอื่นได้ แต่กลิ่นแรง มีพิษ ต้องระวังมากๆ (เพิ่มเติมคือโครตหนืด เทยาก)
polyurethane แพงกว่า(มาก) ผสมอย่างอื่นไม่ค่อยได้ ไม่ระวังแมร่งกลายเป็นฟองน้ำ เลยทำให้เปลือง แต่ไม่มีกลิ่น(ถึงมีก็อ่อนมากๆ) เทง่ายสุดๆเพราะตอนผสมจะใส..ถ้าไม่ระวังจริงๆอาจมีฟอง แต่เป็นฟองเล็กๆไม่ใช่อันควายแบบโพลีเอสเตอร์
อีกเรื่องคือ..ตอนเซตตัวก็ร้อนเหมือนกันแหละ แต่ถ้าปริมาณมากนี่ไม่รู้ว่าอันไหนร้อนกว่าเหมือนกัน
